Privacy policy
This covers fromhello.io: what we collect when you visit and when you join the waitlist, where it goes, and how to have it removed.
What the waitlist collects
When you join the waitlist, we collect your name, company and email address. The form also sends the page's language, the page you signed up on, the first page of your visit, and the campaign source (utm_source) or referral code of the link you followed, if it had one. Our server adds your IP address, your browser's user agent and a short referral code made from your email address.
Visit statistics
We count visits with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that sets no cookies. For each page, it records the address, including any campaign tags in it, the page title, the site you came from, your screen size and your browser's language. It also records when you use the waitlist form and when you click a waitlist, contact or GitHub button. From each request's IP address and user agent, the Umami server works out your browser, operating system, device type and approximate location. The script loads from fromhello.io and sends its data through our server to the Umami server at analytics.lumy.cloud.
fromHello's tracker
We also use fromHello's own tracker on this site. It gives your browser a random visitor ID, kept in the fh_aid cookie. With each page you view, it records the address and title, the page you came from, any campaign tags and ad click IDs in the link, your browser's user agent, language and time zone, and your screen and window size. It also records when you use the waitlist form and when you click a waitlist or contact button. Our fromHello API stores all of this, with your IP address, in a visitor profile in our own fromHello workspace.
When you sign up
If the tracker is running when you sign up, it links your visitor ID to your email address and adds your name and company. The pages you viewed in this browser before signing up, the ones you view after, and anything our fromHello workspace already holds under your email address then sit in one profile. From then on, the tracker also checks whether we have a message to show you on this site, and records whether you saw it, closed it or clicked it.
Cookies and browser storage
The fh_locale cookie remembers your language for a year. The fh_aid cookie keeps the tracker's visitor ID for a year after your last visit, on fromhello.io and its subdomains, including the fromHello app. The fh_ref cookie keeps how you arrived (the site you came from, campaign tags, ad click IDs and your first page) for 30 minutes, on the same domains. In your browser's local storage, the tracker keeps the time it last loaded, any events it hasn't sent yet and, once you sign up, your email address. For the waitlist form, the site keeps your visit's campaign source, referral code and first page in session storage, where the tracker also keeps its configuration. Session storage clears when you close the tab. Your browser settings let you delete or block all of this.
How we use it
We use it to email you when your spot opens, to see how the site is used and which pages and links bring people to the waitlist, and to keep out bots and abuse. Once you've signed up, we also use it to show you a message on this site if we have one for you. We don't send a confirmation email: the page confirms your signup. We don't sell your data or share it for advertising.
Where it goes
Each signup is posted to our team's Discord channel with your name, company, email address, IP address and language, the pages and campaign source above, and the referral codes. We may also save it, with your browser's user agent, in our waitlist database. Through the tracker, your email address, name and company also reach our fromHello workspace. Besides us, this data is handled by Discord, the Umami server at analytics.lumy.cloud, the providers that host this site, our database and our fromHello workspace, and, when we email you, the provider that sends our email.
How long we keep it
Nothing is deleted automatically. Your waitlist details and the tracker's data stay until we delete them or you ask us to. Visit statistics aren't linked to your name or email address, and stay in Umami until we delete them. Cookies expire as described above. What the tracker keeps in your browser's local storage stays until you clear it.
Your rights
To see what we hold about you, correct it or have it deleted, email hello@fromhello.io and we'll take care of it. After a deletion, also clear this site's cookies and storage in your browser: they can still hold your visitor ID and your email address, and your next visit would send them to our fromHello workspace again. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
